On Saturday, January 6, 2017 the Black Hills State University Foundation teamed up with the Kenadi Jean Weis Foundation to host a Hot Pink Out Kenadi Jean Basketball Night at the Donald E. Young Center in Spearfish, SD.
The Yellow Jacket men’s and women’s basketball teams faced the New Mexico Highlands with the Women’s team taking the floor at 5:30 PM and the Men’s team playing at 7:30 PM.
It was a night full of children’s activities and fun half-time entertainment honoring Kenadi with all proceeds from the 2016 Salsa Beargrease X5 Fat Tire Bike-sponsored by Rushmore Mountain Sports and State Farm Insurance-Jodi Garcia Agency, 50/50 tickets, Frisbee Free Throw sales and Silent Auction items going to fund the BHSU Kenadi Jean Weis Memorial Scholarship awarded annually to a graduating senior majoring in the Special Education Program.
During halftime, Gabrielle Haefs was presented with her Scholarship Certificate by Black Hills State University Professors and Kenadi Jean Weis Foundation Board Members and Volunteers.
Kids returned their Butterfly Coloring Page to the Foundation table for a sweet prize. BHSU fans packed the house wearing hot pink to cheer the Jackets on to a home court victory!
