2020 Rotary Club Legacy Project

November 13, 2019 @ 5:15 pm - 5:30 pm

On Wednesday afternoon the Kenadi Jean Weis Foundation will have an opportunity to present our idea of a Sensory Exploration Trail to Rotary Club members for grant consideration.  A Sensory Exploration Trail would be the first of its kind in our municipality and accessible to all residents.  Rhapsody Outdoor Musical Instruments like Cascata Bells, Grandioso Chimes, Vivo Metallophone and Three Ways to Drum would be strategically placed along the Spearfish Recreation Path that stretches along a 7.5-mile paved trail through town.

Imagine building in brief music stops that would allow the hiker to encounter so much more than as if they were just passing through.  Each wheelchair accessible station along the route engages trekkers in novel ways and allows children with disabilities to play alongside their able-bodied friends.

Music is joy, joy that can be heard and felt, whether it’s bold or subtle, composed or random.  This multi generational activity encourages people of all ages and abilities to share their musical creativity and offers a unique way to express themselves.

So, go take a hike… a SENSORY EXPLORATION TRAIL hike!
