Caroline’s Cart – Lueders

February 15, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Gramma Jean visited Doug Lueders, owner of Lueders Food Centers in Spearfish and Belle Fourche, SD and introduced him to Caroline’s Cart.

Caroline’s Cart, created by Technibilt- the world’s largest shopping cart manufacturer- is the innovation of Drew Ann and David Long from Birmingham, Alabama.  This cart was designed specifically for older children and adults with disabilities and named after their daughter, Caroline who was born with Rett Syndrome and is now a happy fifteen years old.

The buggy has a built-in seat that accommodates a person up to 250 pounds and faces the caregiver who is pushing the cart.  This capability will not only benefit an individual with disabilities but also the senior population residing within our retirement community.  According to the most recent Primary Retail Trade Area Demographics Study for Spearfish, South Dakota, 33.59% of the population is 55 or older.

Caroline’s Cart, with a 5 point harness and locking brake system, will provide a quality product for individuals who need assistance, enabling them to participate in mainstream society with their family through the everyday activity of grocery shopping.

Before Gramma Jean left Doug’s office he was on the telephone ordering not one, but two of Caroline’s Carts.  Thank you Lueders Food Centers for your community spirit and excellent customer service!
